Puppets are everywhere! The Broadway productions of Lion King and Warhorse, films such as the remade Muppet Movie series, as well as, Las Vegas performers like America’s Got Talent winner, Terry Fator, have generated a renewed interest in the performing art of puppetry. Students will learn about the work of some of the most famous puppeteers and the use of sophisticated puppets in contemporary shows. Students will also learn puppetry techniques such as proper eye contact, creating characters, making puppets come alive and more. A variety of styles of puppets will be provided for practice and performances, and students will learn technique and the various types of puppets that are utilized in theater today.
